Presentation
For the first edition of Bukruk animation night, we are very proud to introduce the french festival « Panam Anim » created by Pascal Chinarro.
This festival takes place at the end of the year in Paris since 2011 and during the spring in Shanghai since 2013 where the French students can compete with much success to their Chinese comrades.
Each year new schools from different countries are joining the festival, and Panam Anim is on is way to become the festival not to be missed by the international animation schools.
We hope, for this year to be joined by Thai schools on this selection.
For this edition, the curator of the Bukruk animation night, Flokim Lucas with the complicity of Pascal Chinarro, made a selection through the winning films over five years. They selected 16 short films.
To continue the evening, Maytee & Yuree featuring Rik Wachirapilan will be presenting 12 Cats rock concert and video performance.
In the second part of the night, we will continue a bunch of innovative and crazy animated music videos.
After a short pause, we will screen Fantastic Planet.
Fantastic Planet is a 1973 cutout stop motion science fiction film allegorical film directed by René Laloux and production designed by Roland Topor which is recognisable by its surreal, psychedelic imagery.
The story is based on the 1957 novel “Oms en Série” by the french writer Stephen Wul.
I wanted to show this film because it use very basic animation techniques, in 1973 there was no 3D nor post production! Anyway the film still remained fresh and delightful visually with a strong plot and some questions who could be easily transposed in our contemporary world.
